2 Americans Share Economics Nobel

2 Americans Share Economics Nobel - NYTimes.com

Our Big Ten colleague at Indiana, Elinor Ostrom, has won the Nobel Prize in economics. She is the first woman laureate ever for the economics prize. And she is the fourth political scientist to win or share the Nobel.

Bravo!

  1. I think that it is great that they picked a social scientist to win the award. Scientists often overlook some common sense solutions to problems, because their method of learning and thinking is different. Both sides will benefit by increased cooperation and respect between the two disciplines. Unfortunately there exists a great divide between those mathematically inclined and liberal arts students as the former often feel that they are intellectually superior. This looks like a step towards mending that relationship.
